Northern Tornadoes Project Wind Impacts Researcher Dr. Connell Miller will share the work of the NTP to detect, predict, and mitigate damage caused by tornadoes and severe weather in Canada.
Dr. Connell Miller is a full-time "Wind Impacts Researcher" for the Northern Tornadoes Project at Western University, as well as a drone pilot with an Advanced Operations license from Transport Canada. The Northern Tornadoes Project aims to better detect tornado occurrence throughout Canada, improve severe and extreme weather understanding and prediction, mitigate against harm to people and property, and investigate future implications due to climate change. Dr. Miller is the head of the remote sensing team at the Northern Tornadoes Project and is responsible for the development and implementation of drone imagery to map the path of tornadoes. His current research is focused on new ways to collect information about the damage done by tornadoes, such as through drones, Streetview cameras, and satellite vegetation indices. He also grew up in Lucan!
Located in a shared facility with the Lucan-Biddulph Municipal Offices, the Lucan Library features offices, a programming room and a welcoming children's area.
