As part of a special agreement, you can access the collections of over 175 public libraries in Ontario, public and academic libraries across the country, the Ontario Archives, and Library and Archives Canada. This agreement is called "Interlibrary Loan Ontario" or ILLO for short.
ILLOs are facilitated by a shared network, called INFO, a partnership between the participating public libraries and the Ontario Library Service with support from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport.
Adult, Young Adult and Juvenile Books that are not available in the Middlesex County Library collection, including Large Print and multi-lingual items. Microfilm can also be requested, but must be viewed at library branches where microfilm reader equipment is available (Strathroy, Lucan, Parkhill, Dorchester and Glencoe).
We are unable to request books published in the previous or current calendar year (2023 or 2024), mass market paperbacks, audiobooks, DVDs, and board books. For these items, please use the Suggest For Purchase form. If you are unsure of the publication date or format of the item you are looking for, contact your local Middlesex County Library branch for assistance.
There is a limit of 3 ILLOs per month for each Middlesex County Library card holder.
Call or visit a Middlesex County Library branch and have the staff request on your behalf.
Please allow 3-6 weeks for inter-library loan requests to arrive. You will be contacted by the branch you selected as a pick-up location when the item is available.
Please note that we are unable to mail inter-library loan items to patrons, they must be picked up at a curbside pickup location. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Loan periods for inter-library loan items are determined by the loaning library and will vary item by item. Requests for renewal may be made by contacting your local branch, or by emailing interloan@middlesex.ca before the due date, but the loaning library reserves the right to deny renewal requests.
Whenever possible, we ask that inter-library loan items be returned to a branch open for service, so they can be returned to the loaning library in a timely manner.
